JONATHAN FOX-BRADDOCK (BSc, Master Mariner)

Marine Consultant

Jonathan is a Marine Consultant based in our Cardiff office.

Jonathan is a Master Mariner with the additional qualification of an Open University BSc Degree. He joined Minton, Treharne & Davies Ltd. in September, 2000, having worked for the previous five years for another leading UK-based firm of marine consultants.

Jonathan’s main work is in the field of ship and cargo/cargo related surveys and providing advice and opinions on a range of nautically-related matters for shipowners, charterers, P & I Associations, cargo interests and underwriters, having particular expertise in general cargo operations, stowage and securing of cargo and navigational matters. That work has led to attendances at Crown Court and arbitration proceedings in the UK, USA and Hong Kong. As a surveyor he has been involved with a wide variety of ship types including general cargo vessels, container vessels, bulk carriers, ro-ro vessels, chemical tankers, veg-oil tankers, off-shore support vessels and tugs, investigating incidents of damage to ships and cargo, associated losses, personal injuries and advising on mitigation strategies.

Before becoming a marine surveyor Jonathan was at sea over a twenty year period sailing worldwide on cargo liners, general cargo/combo vessels, bulk carriers and car carriers. For the six years prior to becoming shore-based he worked in the North Sea and was Master of various types of off-shore support vessels, including a fully-redundant dynamically-positioned dive support vessel.
